About Us

LT, Jim, and TJ

We are the Young family from Appleton, WI. In the winter, we love spending time outdoors snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, and playing hockey. In the summer, we love to be on the water surfing, swimming, and jet skiing, as well as ATV/UTV riding. We also love to spend time around a campfire making s’mores, grilling, and listening to the sounds of nature.

We have spent the last few decades vacationing and visiting friends in Minocqua, so when we had an opportunity to be a more permanent part of the community we had to jump! We are so happy to be the next proprietors of the Northwoods Trailside Getaway, built by our friends Cliff and Lanie.

What makes this cabin unique

We are in a great location, 3.5 miles from town located on a private wooded 3 acres. Walking distance to the Minocqua Park Complex, casino 15 minutes away, Minocqua Winter Park 20 minutes away, a mile from the zoo, ATV/snowmobile from the front door and the Minocqua chain of lakes just minutes away. Plenty of specialty shops in town and a Walmart and grocery store 5 minutes away.

This cabin was built to be a comfortable home with a large well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and Northwoods decor to give our guests that perfect “up north” vacation. Whether it’s making a bonfire and enjoying the pit area, sitting on the screened in porch reading a book or having great conversation, cozying up by the fireplace after a great day on the trails (both winter and summer), we hope you find the Getaway your home away from home!
